Purchasing a brand new computer to uncover that it comes bundled with tons of useless junk is a very frustrating situation, one that SlimWare Utilities aims to address via the program SlimComputer. Launch a scan and the application will go over your system and uncover unwanted applications, startup items, toolbars, and so on. Of course, you can also use the application to manually uninstall applications, trim the list of applications that launch at startup, disable toolbars, and stop unwanted processes.

The installation file is less than 1MB in size, which is quite lightweight; the download, even on a low speed internet connection, will complete in a blink. The same can be said about the installation process itself; a setup wizard will guide you and you’ll be done in no time at all. It must be mentioned here that at some point during the installation process you will be asked if you want to install AVG Security Toolbar alongside SlimComputer.

Large buttons on the left hand side allow you to easily navigate the application's interface and access all the functionality it has to offer. Even the greenest of novices will have no problems figuring out the interface and that’s a very nice thing.

When you launch SlimComputer for the first time, it asks you to pick a threshold and thus determine how aggressively you want the application to detect unwanted items. If you want to change this threshold at a later time, you can do so from the Settings menu (upper right hand corner), the Advanced submenu.

There are two ways to use SlimComputer: automatically or manually. You can launch a scan and let the application automatically uncover unwanted applications, browser add-ons, toolbars, startup items, and shortcuts. SlimComputer can be more or less aggressive during the scan process depending on the aforementioned threshold you select. SlimComputer uses community-powered feedback to uncover unwanted items. Alternatively, you can use the application to manually remove applications, stop processes, get rid of startup items, and so on.
